Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.

To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

Save every picture from a Word document

Getting images out of a .docx by right-clicking each one is slow and can lose resolution. This tool pulls the original embedded image files out in one go. It works because a .docx file is a ZIP package with the pictures stored inside it.

  • Recovering photos someone sent you inside a Word file.
  • Reusing figures and diagrams from a report.
  • Collecting product images from a supplier's catalogue document.

Original files, zipped

Images are copied from the document's media folder exactly as stored, so their quality matches what was inserted (after any compression Word applied). They are named as Word stored them, such as image1.png, and packaged in one ZIP.

Formats vary

Some images may be EMF or WMF (Windows vector formats) that not every viewer opens. Charts and SmartArt drawn by Word aren't image files, so they aren't included. Documents with no pictures return a message instead of an empty ZIP.

  • Images cropped inside Word are extracted uncropped, since Word stores the full picture.

Extract images from DOCX: questions

Are the images at original quality?

They're exactly as stored in the document. If Word compressed pictures when saving, that compressed version is what you get.

Why are some images .emf or .wmf?

Those are Windows vector formats Word uses for some graphics. Open them in Word, LibreOffice or a converter that supports them.

Are charts and SmartArt extracted?

No. They're drawn by Word from data, not stored as image files.

Why did it say no images were found?

The document has no embedded picture files; shapes, charts and linked (not embedded) images don't count.
