Enough room for a few scanned pages at good quality. The target is already set.

Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.

To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

How to make a PDF 300 KB or less

Add the PDF and run it. Text-safe optimisation runs first and keeps text selectable if it gets under 300 KB. If not, pages are re-rendered as images at the highest quality that fits, found in a handful of attempts rather than by guessing a mode.

Step by step

  1. 01Add the PDF; 300 KB is preset.
  2. 02Run it and check the size shown.
  3. 03Open the result and check the smallest text.
  4. 04Upload the new copy.

Transcripts, certificates and ID proofs

University admissions, scholarship and recruitment portals often allow about 300 KB per document. That fits a multi-page transcript or a front-and-back ID scan at a resolution where every number is still easy to read.

How "300 KB" is counted

This page aims at 300,000 bytes or less. Upload forms disagree on what 300 KB means: some count 300,000 bytes, others 307,200 (1 KB = 1,024 bytes). A file of 300,000 bytes or less passes either rule, so you can type the limit exactly as the form writes it. The result shows the exact byte count. Windows File Explorer counts in 1,024s, so the same file can read slightly smaller there.

Questions

Why is my result 280 KB and not exactly 300 KB?

The compressor looks for the best quality that stays under the limit. PDF sizes move in steps as resolution and quality change, so the result lands a little below.

Will the colours change?

No. Pages stay in colour. If you want an even smaller file, scan in grayscale before making the PDF.

Does it work on a multi-page transcript?

Yes. Every page gets the same resolution and quality, and the search keeps the best level whose total fits 300 KB. The more pages, the lower the resolution per page, so zoom in on the smallest grades or figures before submitting.
