Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.
To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

Open iPhone HEIC photos anywhere
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Windows without the right extension, many government and university portals, and older apps don't accept it, so uploads fail with an "unsupported file" error. HEIC to JPG converts those photos to standard JPG that every device and form accepts. Windows needs extra HEIF and HEVC extensions from the Microsoft Store to open HEIC at all, so converting is often simpler than installing codecs on a shared or office computer.
- Uploading an iPhone photo to a portal that accepts only JPG or PNG.
- Opening photos AirDropped or emailed from an iPhone on a Windows PC.
- Converting a batch of HEIC files copied from an iPhone.
- Sending photos to relatives whose apps can't open HEIC.
- HEIF photos from Android phones that shoot in that format convert the same way.
Quality and batch conversion
JPG is lossy, so quality controls the trade-off between size and detail; the default keeps photos visually close to the original. Convert several files at once; each file is handled separately, so one damaged file doesn't stop the rest.
- Need a small file for a form? Convert here, then use Compress Image with a target size.
- Need transparency or a lossless copy? Use HEIC to PNG instead.
- To avoid HEIC in future, set iPhone Settings › Camera › Formats to Most Compatible.
What changes in conversion
Only the still image is converted: Live Photo motion is not included, and for files that hold several images only the main one is used. Treat camera details such as date taken and location as not carried over and keep your originals if you need them. Converted files are often larger than the HEIC originals, because HEIC compresses more efficiently than JPG.
- Check the photo is upright and colours look right.
- Check the file size against any upload limit.
HEIC to JPG: questions
Why won't a portal accept my iPhone photo?
Many sites accept only JPG or PNG, and iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Convert the photo here and upload the JPG.
Does HEIC to JPG keep the photo date and location?
Don't count on it. The converted JPG may not carry the original camera date and location, and file managers will show the conversion date. Keep the HEIC originals if those details matter.
Why is the JPG bigger than the HEIC?
HEIC compresses more efficiently than JPG, so the same photo takes more space as JPG. Use Compress Image afterwards if you need a smaller file.
How do I stop my iPhone saving HEIC?
Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible saves new photos as JPG. Under Settings › Photos, setting Transfer to Mac or PC to Automatic also converts photos when you copy them to a computer.
Can I convert many HEIC photos at once?
Yes. Add them all; each is converted separately, and one damaged file won't stop the rest.
Are my photos uploaded to convert them?
No. HEIC decoding runs in your browser, so personal photos stay on your device.
