Check a photo's size in pixels
Reads the width × height in pixels straight from the file, so you can match a form's dimension rule like 600 × 600. This checks dimensions, not KB or MB.

Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.
To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

Pixels are dimensions; MB is file size
Upload forms mean one of two things by “size”. Dimensions are width × height in pixels, for example 600 × 600 or 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI. File size is storage, in KB or MB. This page answers the first: add a photo and read its width and height. If the form complains about KB or MB, you need a compressor instead.
Step by step
- 01Add the photo.
- 02Read the width × height in pixels.
- 03Compare with the dimensions the form asks for.
- 04Wrong dimensions? Resize. File too big in MB? Compress.
Turning pixels into print size
Pixels decide how much detail the image holds. Print size is pixels divided by DPI: at 300 DPI, 600 pixels prints at 2 inches (5.08 cm). DPI itself is only a hint stored in the file; changing it doesn't change the picture on screen, and forms that mention DPI usually care about pixels.
- 2 × 2 inch photo at 300 DPI = 600 × 600 px.
- 35 × 45 mm passport photo at 300 DPI ≈ 413 × 531 px.
- Phone photos are often 4,000 px or more wide, far more than forms need.
Then fix whichever is wrong
If the dimensions are wrong, use Resize image, or Resize image in cm for print sizes. If only the file size is too big, use Compress image or a size-target page such as 2 MB, 100 KB or 50 KB.
Questions
How do I check how many pixels my photo is?
Add it to the checker above. It reads the width and height in pixels from the file itself, so the numbers are exact.
Is pixel size the same as file size?
No. Pixels are width × height; file size is KB or MB of storage. A photo with many pixels can still be a small file if it is compressed, and the other way round.
Why does Windows show a different size?
Windows and macOS sometimes show size on disk, which rounds up to the disk's block size. The file size here is the exact number of bytes.
Can it read HEIC photos?
It reads any image your browser can decode. Safari decodes HEIC; in other browsers, convert with HEIC to JPG first.
