Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.

To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

How to get an image under 10 KB

Crop the image tightly, drop it in and download. The compressor tries JPG quality levels and keeps the highest one that lands under 10 KB; if low quality alone is still too big, it scales the picture down and tries again. 10 KB is very small, so expect a result a few hundred pixels across, not a full-size photo.

Step by step

  1. 01Crop the signature to just the ink, or the photo to head and shoulders.
  2. 02Drop it on the tool. The 10 KB target is already set.
  3. 03Download and zoom in to check the edges are still clean.
  4. 04Upload it, and keep the original in case the portal asks for another size.

What fits in 10 KB

10 KB is about 10,000 bytes for the whole picture. A tightly cropped signature in dark ink on white paper fits comfortably and stays sharp, because large plain areas cost almost nothing. A face photo also fits, but only at small dimensions, which is usually what portals with a 10 KB limit display anyway.

  • Signatures: plain white paper, dark pen, daylight, tight crop.
  • Photos: plain light background, face filling most of the frame.
  • Busy backgrounds, noise and heavy filters all eat into the budget.

Check the form for pixel rules too

Forms with a 10 KB limit often also give pixel dimensions, such as a signature box of a set width and height. Resize to those dimensions first with the image resizer, then compress here. Starting from the right pixel size leaves the whole 10 KB for quality.

How "10 KB" is counted

This page aims at 10,000 bytes or less. Upload forms disagree on what 10 KB means: some count 10,000 bytes, others 10,240 (1 KB = 1,024 bytes). A file of 10,000 bytes or less passes either rule, so you can type the limit exactly as the form writes it. The result shows the exact byte count. Windows File Explorer counts in 1,024s, so the same file can read slightly smaller there.

Questions

Why does my 10 KB photo look small?

Because quality alone can't fit a large photo into 10 KB, the compressor also reduces the pixel size. A small, clear image is more useful than a large one full of blocky artefacts.

Can I get a signature under 10 KB without it going blurry?

Yes, if you crop close to the ink and the background is plain white. Signatures compress far better than photos. Good light when you photograph it matters more than any setting.

The portal says 5–10 KB. Will this work?

The search aims just under 10 KB, so the result normally lands in the upper part of that range. If it needs to be smaller, type a lower number into the target field.

Is my signature uploaded anywhere?

No. The compression runs in this browser tab, and the network meter on the tool shows 0 B sent while it works.
