Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.

To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

Make PNG images smaller and universally accepted

Screenshots and images exported from design apps are usually PNG, which is large for photos. Many application portals accept only JPG, and a PNG photo can be several times the size of the same picture as JPG. PNG to JPG converts one image or a whole batch.

  • Uploading a screenshot or scanned PNG to a form that accepts only JPG.
  • Shrinking PNG photos before emailing or posting them.
  • Converting a folder of exported PNGs for a website or catalogue.
  • Converting a PNG signature or photo for a portal that has a KB limit and accepts only JPG.

Quality controls size

JPG is lossy. Around 80% quality is hard to tell from the original for photos; lower values cut size further but add blur and blocky edges, especially around text. Each file in a batch is converted independently, so a damaged file doesn't stop the others.

  • Photos and scans: 70–85% is a good range.
  • Screenshots with small text: keep quality high, or keep them as PNG if the size is acceptable.

Transparency becomes white

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas of logos, icons and cut-outs are filled with white. Keep a PNG copy if you might need the transparent version, or use PNG to WebP, which supports transparency and small files.

  • Check edges of logos and icons.
  • Zoom into text in screenshots for blur.

PNG to JPG: questions

What happens to the transparent background?

JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas become white.

Will converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?

Slightly, because JPG is lossy. At 80% or higher the difference is hard to see in photos; screenshots with small text show it first.

How much smaller will the file be?

Photos saved as PNG often shrink a lot. Screenshots and flat graphics shrink less and may look softer.

Can I convert many PNGs at once?

Yes. Each file is converted separately, and one failure doesn't stop the batch.
