Compress an image to 500 KB
Big enough that most photos look untouched on screen. The target is already set.

Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.
To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

How to reduce a photo to 500 KB
Add the photo and download. The compressor searches for the highest quality under 500 KB. For a typical 3–5 MB phone photo, that usually means gently lowering quality and trimming the pixel size to something a screen can still show in full.
Step by step
- 01Add one or many photos.
- 02The 500 KB target is set.
- 03Check sizes on the result and open one full screen.
- 04Download.
Good uses for 500 KB
Marketplace and classifieds listings, rental and insurance claim forms that accept several photos, email attachments you want to stay small, and blog or CMS uploads where the site has a per-image cap.
Batch a whole set
Add a folder's worth of photos and each is fitted under 500 KB separately, so a dark photo with little detail keeps more resolution than a busy one. For consistent edits across a set (exposure, crop, look), Photo Studio is the better tool.
How "500 KB" is counted
This page aims at 500,000 bytes or less. Upload forms disagree on what 500 KB means: some count 500,000 bytes, others 512,000 (1 KB = 1,024 bytes). A file of 500,000 bytes or less passes either rule, so you can type the limit exactly as the form writes it. The result shows the exact byte count. Windows File Explorer counts in 1,024s, so the same file can read slightly smaller there.
Questions
Will people notice the compression?
At 500 KB, rarely on a phone or laptop screen. It becomes visible if you zoom far in or print large.
What format does it save?
It keeps the original format where it can. PNG is lossless and can't trade quality for size, so for a PNG photo pick JPG or WebP output to reach 500 KB without shrinking it.
Is there a file count limit?
No fixed limit. Very large batches are limited only by your device's memory.
