Compress WebP
Re-encode WebP images at a lower quality or to a size you type. They stay WebP, with transparency.

Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.
To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

How to compress a WebP image
Drop the WebP files and press Compress. At 75% quality, WebP images exported at high quality from design tools or CMS plug-ins often shrink by a third or more. For a fixed limit, switch to Target size; the compressor searches quality levels to land just under it.
Step by step
- 01Add WebP files.
- 02Keep 75% quality, or set a target size in KB.
- 03Compress and compare sizes.
- 04Download the smaller WebP files.
Where WebP needs squeezing
Web pages, online shops and blogs use WebP because it is smaller than JPG at the same quality. Images exported at 90–100% quality still weigh more than a page needs, which slows loading on mobile and hurts Core Web Vitals.
- Hero images: aim for under 200 KB.
- Product and blog images: often under 100 KB.
- Thumbnails: 10–30 KB.
If a site doesn't accept WebP
Some forms and older apps only take JPG or PNG. Use WebP to JPG for photos or WebP to PNG for graphics with transparency.
Questions
Does it keep transparency?
Yes. Lossy WebP supports an alpha channel, so transparent areas stay transparent.
Is my browser able to save WebP?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and current Safari can encode WebP. If a browser can't, the tool says so; choose JPG output instead.
Can I compress an animated WebP?
Only the first frame is kept, so animated WebPs come out as a still image. Use a dedicated animation tool for those.
Are the images uploaded?
No. Compression happens in this browser tab.
