Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.
To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

2 × 2 inches in pixels
At 300 DPI, 2 × 2 inches is exactly 600 × 600 pixels, which is also the size the US Department of State asks for in online applications (DS-160 and the DV lottery accept 600 × 600 up to 1200 × 1200). The tool crops square, resizes and writes 300 DPI.
Step by step
- 01Add the photo.
- 02Drag the square so the head is centred.
- 03Download the 600 × 600 image, then run it through the US visa photo checker if it is for an online application.
Uploading to a US form?
Online US applications also check the file size (240 KB or less) and where your head sits in the frame: head 50–69% of the height, eyes 56–69% from the bottom. The US visa photo checker measures both and fixes them for you.
Questions
Is 2 × 2 inches the same as 51 × 51 mm?
Almost: 2 inches is 50.8 mm, usually rounded to 51 mm.
Does it keep my photo sharp?
A phone photo has far more than 600 pixels across the face, so the result is sharp. Very small originals are enlarged and can look soft.
Is the photo uploaded?
No. Cropping and resizing happen in this browser tab.
