Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.

To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

How to reduce a PDF's size in KB

Add the PDF, type the limit from the upload page into the size field (for example 150 KB or 1.5 MB) and run it. The reducer tries text-safe first, then searches resolution and quality for the best-looking PDF under your number. If your number is below what is readable, it tells you the smallest size it can make.

Step by step

  1. 01Add the PDF.
  2. 02Type the limit in KB or MB, or pick a common size.
  3. 03Run it and check the result size and method.
  4. 04Download.

"PDF resizer": size in bytes, not page size

People searching for a PDF resizer usually mean a smaller file, which is what this page does. To change the paper size or trim margins, use Crop PDF instead.

Which KB does the portal mean?

Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. PandaFileKit counts a limit in thousands, so 200 KB means at most 200,000 bytes, which is under the limit whichever way the portal counts. You can type the portal's number as it is written.

How "500 KB" is counted

This page aims at 500,000 bytes or less. Upload forms disagree on what 500 KB means: some count 500,000 bytes, others 512,000 (1 KB = 1,024 bytes). A file of 500,000 bytes or less passes either rule, so you can type the limit exactly as the form writes it. The result shows the exact byte count. Windows File Explorer counts in 1,024s, so the same file can read slightly smaller there.

Questions

What is the smallest size I can enter?

5 KB, though real documents need more. The tool reports the smallest readable size for your file if your number is too low.

Can I reduce several PDFs at once?

One at a time for now, because each file gets its own size search.

Does reducing a PDF lower its quality?

Only as much as the limit requires. Text-safe changes come first; image quality is lowered step by step only until the file fits.
