Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.

To check yourself: open DevTools → Network, clear the list, run the tool, and inspect each request. None will contain your file. You can also switch to offline after the page loads; tools whose engine is already downloaded keep working.

Trim margins or cut a PDF down to the area that matters

Scanned pages often have wide dark borders or a strip of the scanner lid, and some exported slides or receipts sit in a corner of an A4 page. Crop PDF trims every page (or a page range) to the rectangle you draw, which makes the content larger when viewed on a phone or printed.

  • Removing black scanner borders from a scanned document.
  • Cutting a receipt or ID card out of a mostly empty A4 scan.
  • Trimming wide margins from an e-book or paper for easier reading on a phone.

Draw one crop box for all pages, or limit it to a range

The crop rectangle is set as a proportion of the page, so the same crop lands in the same relative position on every page even if page sizes differ slightly. Use a page range when only some pages need cropping.

  • Leave a small margin around text so nothing is clipped on pages that are positioned slightly differently.
  • Crop scans that shift from page to page in separate passes using page ranges.

Cropping hides content; it isn't redaction

Content outside the crop box is hidden from view but may still exist in the file and be recoverable with PDF software. Don't use cropping to remove personal information before sharing; delete the page or rasterize it instead. File size usually doesn't shrink after cropping.

  • Check every page, not just the one you used to draw the box.
  • Confirm headers, footers and page numbers you need weren't cut off.

Crop PDF: questions

Does cropping remove the hidden content?

Treat it as hidden, not deleted: content outside the crop box may still be in the file. Don't use cropping to remove private information; delete the page or rasterize it with Compress PDF instead.

Can I crop just one page?

Yes. Set a page range so the crop applies only to those pages; the rest stay as they were.

Will cropping make the PDF smaller in size?

Usually not by much, because the page content is still stored. Use Compress PDF to reduce file size.

Why is text cut off on some pages?

The same box is applied to every selected page. If content sits in a slightly different place on some pages, crop those pages separately with a looser box.
