Counted with the browser's Performance API during the last job. It sees every request the page makes, but not what is inside them, so anything that is not a static download is counted above.

Mark a copy as confidential, draft or for one purpose only

A common precaution when sending ID copies is to watermark them with the purpose, for example "For bank KYC only", so the copy is harder to reuse elsewhere. Watermarks also label drafts, samples and review copies.

  • Stamping an ID or passport copy with the purpose and date before submitting it.
  • Marking contracts or reports as DRAFT while they are under review.
  • Labelling sample pages of a portfolio.

Short text works best

Type up to 80 characters; if you leave it empty, CONFIDENTIAL is used. The text is drawn diagonally across the middle of every page in bold, light blue, semi-transparent lettering so the content underneath stays readable. Size is scaled to the page width, so very long text may run off the edge.

  • Use Latin letters and numbers; the built-in font can't draw scripts such as Devanagari.
  • Include a date or purpose to make a copy traceable.

A watermark deters, it doesn't lock

The watermark is added as a text layer on top of each page. It is visible and printable, but someone with a PDF editor could remove it. For stronger protection, flatten the file with a rasterizing mode in Compress PDF afterwards, accepting that text will no longer be selectable.

  • Check the text doesn't cover a photo, signature or number that must stay legible.
  • Look at landscape pages, where placement differs.

What should I write on an ID copy watermark?

The purpose and date, for example "For XYZ Bank account opening only, 12 May 2026". It makes a leaked copy harder to reuse for something else.

Can someone remove the watermark?

Someone with a PDF editor could remove it, because it's a text layer on top of the page. For a harder-to-remove mark, compress the watermarked file with a rasterizing mode in Compress PDF, which flattens each page into an image.

Can I use Nepali or Hindi text?

Not reliably. The built-in font covers Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation only.

Will the watermark hide my content?

It's light and semi-transparent, so the text underneath stays readable. Keep the watermark short so it fits the page.

Is the document uploaded to add the watermark?

No. The watermark is added in your browser, so the ID copy you're protecting never leaves your device.
